The new value checker is live!

Check your coin!
This handy tool allows you to check which 10p, 50p and £2 coins you should keep, as it tells you the mintage and an up-to-date value from eBay.

Just select the value checker tab on the home page or go to rubencoins.co.uk/check.

Could the luck be returning in this 50p hunt?

Image
This Saturday, the luck returned and I found three coins that are worth more than face value, which I haven't found for a while!

Common coins:

1. 1x Victoria Cross: Heroic Acts
2. 1x Benjamin Bunny
3. 2x Representation of the People Act
4. 1x Paddington at the Palace
5. 1x Sherlock Holmes
6. 1x Paddington at the Tower

Rarer coins:

Firstly, I found a dirty NHS, which I haven't found for a while. If it was in good condition, it would sell for an average of £1.19 on eBay.

Next, I found a Beatrix Potter 50p, which I seem to have quite good luck with, as I have found quite a few!
It can sell on eBay for an average of £1.

Finally, I found an Olympic: Equestrian, which I haven't ever found in a hunt before! It can sell on eBay for £1.75.

I hope that the luck will return for next week's hunt!

Two coins more than face value in this week's 50p hunt!

Image
This week, I luckily found two coins that are worth more than face value and five common coins.

Face Value Coins:
    1) 2x Sherlock Holmes
    2) 2x Paddington at the Palaces
    3) 1x Representation of the People Act

Coins worth more than face value:

Firstly, I found a Beatrix Potter Anniversary 50p, which has a reasonably high mintage of 6,900,000, but still sells on eBay for £1.

Finally, I found a 2018 a Tailor of Gloucester 50p, which sells on eBay for £1.19 and has a mintage of 3,900,000.

Lots of Sherlock Holmes in this week's 50p hunt!

Image
This week, I sadly didn't find any rare coins worth more than face value.

Coins I found:
1. 6x Sherlock Holmes
2. 2x Benjamin Bunnies
3. 3x Paddington at the Towers
4. 1x 2017 Peter Rabbit
5. 1x Jeremy Fisher

The new £20 note released!

Image
Today is 20/02/20, which means the brand new polymer £20 note is out today! This note features JMW Turner, voted for by the public. He is the first artist to ever appear on a UK banknote. The design features one of Turner’s most recognisable works, ‘The Lighting Temeraire’. The note is now circulating alongside the paper ones, which will eventually be phased out after six months.

There is also news for a new £50 note including mathematician and Second World War codebreaker Alan Turing, which we do not yet know the design of, but we know will be entering circulation some time in 2021.

Another Olympic in This 50p Hunt!

Image
This week, I was lucky and got another Olympic, four face value coins, a coin more than face value and a rare date!

Face value coins:
1) Dictionary
2) Victoria Cross Medals
3) Benjamin Bunny
4) 3x Sherlock Holmes

I then found a Battle of Hastings, which sells on eBay for an average of £1.82.

The star of this hunt is the Olympic Badminton. This sells on eBay for an average of £1.46.

I also found a 2017 shield, which is the fifth rarest 50p (not including Olympics). It sells for an average of £1.95 on eBay.
